This fun-loving adventure gives you a taste of the Florida Keys—from Miami all the way down to the southernmost key in the chain—Key West! We’ll start in Miami with a night on famous South Beach and some mouth-watering authentic Cuban food. We’ll enjoy visits to the beautiful Bahia Honda National Park and drive the incredible engineering feat known as the Seven Mile Bridge. Our last stop is bustling, vibrant little Key West, complete with shopping, dining and the famous Mallory Square sunset festivities. Saturday: Plan to arrive at the Miami International Airport (MIA) at your convenience, allowing time to arrive at our hotel and get checked in on time for our first Sol Sister group meeting at 5:00 pm. Plan to arrive early if you’d like to explore the area on your own. Stroll along the waterfront Art Deco district, or sip coffee under the palms with people-watching at its best.

After introductions and a review of what’s in store for our group, we’ll head out to dinner at a nearby authentic Cuban restaurant. After dinner enjoy some free time for nightlife, walking the beach, or resting up at the hotel for our busy day tomorrow.

Sunday: Following a buffet breakfast at our hotel, we’ll depart for our first adventure—an airboat ride in the Everglades along with an educational alligator and wildlife show. We’ll explore jungle walkways and scenic trails while learning about the Everglades, its wildlife and ecosystem.

Next, we’re off to the “Gateway to the Keys” Key Largo! But not before a visit to a famous roadside fruit stand. Shop for gifts and souvenirs, or try an exotic local fruit smoothie for the road. At Key Largo we’ll enjoy lunch and power up for a beautiful snorkeling experience at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.

The park was the first underwater park in the United States, and includes 70 nautical square miles of Atlantic Ocean waters. Snorkel this famous coral reef while surrounded by colorful fish and living coral!

After a big day of adventure, it’s time to settle in to our quaint Florida-style Islamorada resort. Relax and enjoy some beach or pool time before a hearty group dinner prepared in our resort villa.

Monday: After breakfast at our hotel, it’s time for some kayak instruction before heading out to Indian Key State Park. In the 1830’s, this tiny island was the site of a lucrative business-salvaging cargo from shipwrecks in the Florida Keys. Accessible only by boat, it’s a lovely place to explore old wreckage and climb the observation tower. We’ll enjoy lunch here before paddling back to Islamorada for some well-deserved free time at the resort. Enjoy a guided beach yoga session, or just hit the hammock.

Tonight we’ll celebrate our successful kayak excursion with dinner at a local waterside restaurant.

Tuesday: After breakfast, we’ll say goodbye to our beachside resort and head further south to Marathon. After getting settled in at our waterside vacation home, we’ll depart for the Dolphin Research Center for a private tour and educational dolphin presentation.
After lunch we’ll visit the Turtle Hospital and learn about sea turtles and how they are rescued and rehabilitated. Get an up-close look at these beautiful and gentle endangered sea turtles, and learn what you can do to help.

We’ll get some time to rest and clean up back at our lodging, before we board our sailing vessel and head out on the water for a spectacular sunset sail. Pure bliss and relaxation while viewing one of the world’s most gorgeous sunsets.

Wednesday: Power up with a hearty breakfast today. Afterward, we’ll pack a lunch and head out for some exploring—this time to Bahia Honda State Park! We’ll walk around this beautiful state park and the lovely beaches, be sure to bring your sunscreen and beach towel!

Back on the road again, heading still further south, we reach Geiger Key. A Florida Keys trip wouldn’t be complete without a marina tiki bar lunch. And Geiger Key Marina has just what we’re looking for; conch fritters, local fish sandwiches or fresh salad, the choice is yours.

After lunch, we’ll board some kayaks for another keys paddling excursion—just 50 paddle strokes away we’ll see translucent turquoise water laced with canary yellow fish and purple coral.

Thursday: We’ll enjoy an early breakfast today, as we head to our southernmost stop—Key West! After our drive down, you’ll have the day free to explore, shop or relax at a local bar. Have lunch on your own at your leisure. We’ll meet up again as a group at 5pm to enjoy the famous Mallory Square sunset festivities. Then it’s time for our farewell dinner, waterside at the Schooner Wharf “A last little piece of Old Key West”.

Friday: After breakfast, we’ll depart for the Key West International Airport. Those with later flights may choose to check bags and then take a cab to explore Key West a little further.
